Type Test

I took Julie's type test. I was not sure how to get it onto my blog. I typed 77 words a minute. You should check it out and see how fast you can type.

Avery's Number

Some of you may know that Avery has always wanted number 11 to play sports. He wants that number because of Travis. He later found out that Grandma Cooper and Travis both had that number. Others of you may have also had it, but I don't know. So they got their uniforms yesterday for soccer and he is a freshman so he had to pick his number last. Of course 11 was already gone. So he has 33. He says it is for 3 generations of 11. Whatever works to make you think you have your number. I think he is funny.

Avery

So Avery had been very excited for this spring season of soccer to start. He is a ninth grader and is able to try out for high school soccer. They had tryouts on Mon, Tues and Wed. I picked him up in front of seminary on Mon and he was pacing. I asked him if he was okay and he said he was nervous. He told me he always gets nervous before games and tryouts. I never knew. I picked him up Mon and asked him how he did and he said I did my best. I told him that was all we wanted him to do and we are proud of him for trying. At tryouts they had to do lots of running and there were about 125 kids. The coaches told the kids if they didn't like running not to come back the next day because they would be running a lot more. So on Tues I take him again and I go to pick him up and his doesn't come out of tryouts so I text him and he says I can't leave until they tell us who made first cuts. I sat in the car for a very long (long for me because I was nervous for him too) time. Finally he comes out and he made first cuts. He was so excited. Only about 75 kids showed up because of grades and they didn't want to run and they took about 50 kids for the final day of tryouts. I took him back on Wed and told him to do his best again. I went to get him and I could see the kids on the field and they were just waiting for the coaches to let them know. I see all of the kids start out the gate so I start driving over to find him and I can't find him anywhere. He finally calls me and says "Mom I have to go to a team meeting. I made the team." I was so excited for him. The first pre-season game is next Friday at Hunter. He has been working really hard at practice to be able to have some playing time. 4 freshman made the team and they may not get a lot of playing time, but people have told Avery that if he works really hard at practice that he may get some time. Yeah Avery!!!!!!!!!!!! Love ya kid!!!!!!!

The Crazy Bus Driver

I have to say that this week has been a rather eventful week. I think i will share some scary news and then we can move onto the fun stuff.

I needed to run to WalMart for cupcakes for Brayden's party on Friday so I decided to do it on Thursday afternoon. I stopped at the house to talk to Brayden and headed out to run these errands. I had an hour and knew that would be plenty of time, unless you run into a crazy bus driver. I was at the red light on 5200 W. waiting to turn left onto 3500 S. You have to know how excited I have been this week because of the warm weather which means that the mustang has been out of the garage. So I was waiting for the light when I look up and a school bus is headed straight for me. I heard something in my head tell me to put it in reverse and I backed up as much as I could to get out of his way, but he went in front of me and turned and ended up in the right turn lane. He took out the right front side of the car. I couldn't believe it had just happened. I got out of my car and went to the bus and he was telling the kids to get off the bus and go home. I called Mark to ask if I should call the police or if the Granite District people should handle it. He told me to call the police so I did. The granite guy that showed up was Tom Given and the bus driver is in a lot of trouble. First, it is against district policy to have the kids get off the bus and second, this is his third accident this year with this same group of kids. Luckily nobody was hurt and the damage to the car is minimal. I am thankful that Heavenly Father didn't whisper to me how to get out of the way, but said it very loud and clearly. I am afraid if I wasn't listening it would have been really bad.
