Update Finally

I have been super busy with soccer the last few months because of registration and so I have not taken the time to post anything lately. I will update a few things and later put on some pictures.

We left the day school got out and took the boat to Delta. We stayed with our friends, Brett and Shannon. It was so much fun we have not seen them since we moved from Magna and it was great to hang out with them. They have a cute family and we just love their kids.

Chelsea brought home a cute kittie. Her name is Snowbelle and she is very funny. Mark is slowly getting over the fact and even Avery thinks she's not so bad.

Avery decided to play football and he wants to be a kicker for Hunter this year. He loves to play and has been having a great time.

We have a new car because I didn't want to drive the Mustang anymore. I couldn't ever drive it after the accident and also gas is killing us. We have a Honda Civic and it gets lots better gas mileage.

Last Friday Avery was lifting weights with Matt at the Fitness Center and dropped a 35 lbs dumbell on his right ring finger. I ended up at the emergency room with him at Pioneer Hospital. Not a good choice I know, but that's where we went. On Sunday I had to take him back for a wound check and didn't feel good about it so I took him to the new hospital, IMC. They gave me a referral for an orthopedic and got me an appointment for Tuesday. We went to the doctor yesterday and ended up having surgery on his finger. He had damaged the nail bed into about seven or eight pieces that had to be stitched back together. We hope that everything will heal, but they are worried about part of the right side of his finger. We know that things will turn out better and he will be able to do all of the fun things he wants to do.

Avery and Austin are getting ready for soccer and they have a few tournaments coming up in the next few weeks.

I am really excited for Education Week with Wendy. I could really use the break from everyday life.

Dance

Well Chelsea is ready for another dance concert on May 16. It is at 7:00 at the same place. She is dancing to the song Still Rock and Roll to Me. They were told to make sure they had big hair. She had pictures taken today so I took some pictures of her in her costume. She also made Jazz Attitude. She is going to be really busy with dance, but she is super excited.

Hunter Soccer

The soccer team took 3rd place in the region so they are moving onto playoffs. They start the first play off game this week. We think it is on Tues. They will be playing Jordan High. We are excited for the team and love to watch soccer. Avery is having a blast and learning lots of new things. He has a couple of great coaches.

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!

Chelsea has been working on a few dance routines. Last week they had three days of clinics and today was tryouts. We didn't think they would find out who made Dance Company at the Jr. High until Wednesday, but they decided to post it tonight. Chelsea made dance company. We are so proud of her. Her really good friend Maddie made it to so that will be super fun for them. Now I don't have to be nervous for her anymore. Yeah!!!!!!!! Chelsea. GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!!

New Book...

The next book is out in one of our favorite series. So I'm sure it will be hard to wait our turns. The third Fablehaven book came out today. Chelsea of course called it first and then we will see what happens after that. I love the Fablehaven series. I like it more than the Harry Potter books.

Conference

Image

What a great conference we have had so far. I was so touched by the spirit in our home yesterday as we were able to stand in our family room as instructed by Elder Uchtdorf to stand and sustain our new prophet. I am so thankful for a living prophet and the instruction we receive. Today in the Sunday morning session I was so touched by his testimony that he gave us. I am grateful that the spirit can testify to us about the truth. President Monson has truly been called by our Heavenly Father and I am ready for the truth that he is going to share with us as the church moves forward.

A long time coming......

K so this will most likely be long. I have been trying to get down here for weeks, but something with the kids always comes up. Stacy and I talked one day about scheduling it in so I will do it, the problem I have found is that kids mess up schedules.

Last weekend we had a great time watching soccer. The high school team played in Delta. We thought about taking the boat (HA HA), but with the 3" of snow we left in Salt Lake we didn't think it would be that warm. On Thursday we drove to Delta and watched the game, Hunter won both Varsity and JV. Then we moved on down south some more. We stayed in St. George for the night and got up the next morning to drive to Las Vegas for a tournament Austin was playing in. They did really well, they lost the first game and won the last two. I forgot to take pictures of Avery's game because I was freezing. It was really warm in Vegas and I got some sun. We got back late Sunday night and when I woke up Monday morning I had 3" of snow on the ground again. I guess that's what we get for trying to get away from the snow. Oh well spring in Utah.

The weekend before was Easter and usually we are in St George, but because of the tournament we stayed home and the kids had the Easter egg hunt with the cousins. It was fun, but weird to have Easter so early. We of course had yummy food and lots of fun. Yeah for family.

I should have put this in a long time ago. Brayden was baptized on March 8. He was so super excited and kept bouncing all over the house. My other kids where excited, but they did not show it like Brayden. It was a very special day and Avery and Chelsea gave wonderful talks at the baptism. I loved having Julie play a song for us on the violin. I am grateful for all the family and friends that came to share Brayden's special day.

The only other thing to report is that Avery finally got his braces off. It only took three years, but the stubborn child would not wear his elastics. I guess it's not me that had to wear them for so long. He sure has a nice smile though.

Type Test

I took Julie's type test. I was not sure how to get it onto my blog. I typed 77 words a minute. You should check it out and see how fast you can type.

Avery's Number

Some of you may know that Avery has always wanted number 11 to play sports. He wants that number because of Travis. He later found out that Grandma Cooper and Travis both had that number. Others of you may have also had it, but I don't know. So they got their uniforms yesterday for soccer and he is a freshman so he had to pick his number last. Of course 11 was already gone. So he has 33. He says it is for 3 generations of 11. Whatever works to make you think you have your number. I think he is funny.

Avery

So Avery had been very excited for this spring season of soccer to start. He is a ninth grader and is able to try out for high school soccer. They had tryouts on Mon, Tues and Wed. I picked him up in front of seminary on Mon and he was pacing. I asked him if he was okay and he said he was nervous. He told me he always gets nervous before games and tryouts. I never knew. I picked him up Mon and asked him how he did and he said I did my best. I told him that was all we wanted him to do and we are proud of him for trying. At tryouts they had to do lots of running and there were about 125 kids. The coaches told the kids if they didn't like running not to come back the next day because they would be running a lot more. So on Tues I take him again and I go to pick him up and his doesn't come out of tryouts so I text him and he says I can't leave until they tell us who made first cuts. I sat in the car for a very long (long for me because I was nervous for him too) time. Finally he comes out and he made first cuts. He was so excited. Only about 75 kids showed up because of grades and they didn't want to run and they took about 50 kids for the final day of tryouts. I took him back on Wed and told him to do his best again. I went to get him and I could see the kids on the field and they were just waiting for the coaches to let them know. I see all of the kids start out the gate so I start driving over to find him and I can't find him anywhere. He finally calls me and says "Mom I have to go to a team meeting. I made the team." I was so excited for him. The first pre-season game is next Friday at Hunter. He has been working really hard at practice to be able to have some playing time. 4 freshman made the team and they may not get a lot of playing time, but people have told Avery that if he works really hard at practice that he may get some time. Yeah Avery!!!!!!!!!!!! Love ya kid!!!!!!!

The Crazy Bus Driver

I have to say that this week has been a rather eventful week. I think i will share some scary news and then we can move onto the fun stuff.

I needed to run to WalMart for cupcakes for Brayden's party on Friday so I decided to do it on Thursday afternoon. I stopped at the house to talk to Brayden and headed out to run these errands. I had an hour and knew that would be plenty of time, unless you run into a crazy bus driver. I was at the red light on 5200 W. waiting to turn left onto 3500 S. You have to know how excited I have been this week because of the warm weather which means that the mustang has been out of the garage. So I was waiting for the light when I look up and a school bus is headed straight for me. I heard something in my head tell me to put it in reverse and I backed up as much as I could to get out of his way, but he went in front of me and turned and ended up in the right turn lane. He took out the right front side of the car. I couldn't believe it had just happened. I got out of my car and went to the bus and he was telling the kids to get off the bus and go home. I called Mark to ask if I should call the police or if the Granite District people should handle it. He told me to call the police so I did. The granite guy that showed up was Tom Given and the bus driver is in a lot of trouble. First, it is against district policy to have the kids get off the bus and second, this is his third accident this year with this same group of kids. Luckily nobody was hurt and the damage to the car is minimal. I am thankful that Heavenly Father didn't whisper to me how to get out of the way, but said it very loud and clearly. I am afraid if I wasn't listening it would have been really bad.

Crazy Stuff At our House

Just a couple of fun things coming up at our house. They are mostly about the two big boys.

On Monday Avery is getting his braces off. Pictures will be coming because I haven't seen his teeth in a couple of years. He is also trying out for the High School Soccer Team on Monday. Avery never ceases to amaze me either. Today he didn't come home after school so I tried to call him and he didn't answer so I texted him. I found out by his long drawn out texts that he was trying out for the school play. Hunter Jr. is doing Music Man and they needed a trumpet player and so he tried out and made it. The play is in April. Good job Avery.

Austin is ready for another swim meet in Park City this weekend. About water polo though. He went last Saturday at 7 am and came home and told he how much fun it is. He said it is a lot like soccer and he was really tired from being in the deep end most of the two hours. Then Monday after swim practice he came home and told me he wanted to go to practice again on Wednesday from 5-6:30. I didn't think much about it expect that it would interfere with swim practice. On Tuesday when he reminded me out water polo I asked him if he wanted to miss swim practice for water polo practice and he started to laugh. I didn't realize that 5:00-6:30 was am not pm. Most of you know that I love mornings so much, I guess I forgot about that time of day. So this morning he headed out the door with his dad to practice. Good for him for getting up. We found out that a new rule came out that you have to be in 7th grade to play on the team, but the coach said he is welcome to come and practice anytime. During the summer they play water polo in the outdoor pool at Kearns. Austin also told me that he might give up soccer and swim and play water polo all year long. I guess we will see about that.

Oh ya, Brayden had his first pack meeting tonight. The Blue and Gold Banquet. We had pizza, salad and brownies. He had a great time. His first den meeting will be next Tuesday right after school.

Brayden's Eight

It's amazing to me how time has flown by with my kids. On Friday we celebrated the baby's eighth birthday, which means he is not a baby anymore. He is super excited to be baptized and can hardly wait. He is being baptized on March 8 and it's not soon enough for him. Brayden is a super crazy kid and I think he is going to be in drama. He is taking swim lessons and his teacher says he is a great swimmer, so maybe I can talk him into swimming on the swim team. He is so fun to have around the house and I am a little bit sad that he is going up so fast. Probably because he is the youngest. Happy Birthday Little Guy.

Logan Swim Meet

I had an assignment for my photo class and I found the perfect place to take the pictures. We had to shoot action shots and so I took these pictures at Austin's swim meet. He did really well he had a second place, 3 third places and a fourth place. I love to watch him swim and he loves to go. He comes home from school and tells me he is ready to go. He loves to talk about swimming and his face lights up when he does (kind of like soccer). Today his coach told him to try water polo. On Saturday they have a water polo practice and he could maybe play on the high school team already. We will see what that brings about. Anyway the pictures I took are the three different strokes he swam. See if you can tell what they are.

If you guessed backstroke good job. He swam in the 50 and 100 m backstroke.

This is the breast stroke. He swam the 50 m. He took second in this one.

Nice in you thought this might be freestyle. He swam in the 50 and 100 m events.

He is doing super swell and he has another meet on the 22nd and 23rd of Feb in Park City. He is trying to cut his time in the freestyle so he can go to state in March.

Snpiers

Well I am not a big fan of guns in the house, but Avery and Austin received gift cards for Christmas and guess what they wanted. You got it Nerf Guns. I told them that they needed to keep safety in mind because I didn't want anyone getting hurt. The picture shows how they solved the problem.

They made up a game and where racing around the house and I go see what they are doing and I see Brayden peeking around the corner and they all have their dad's safety glasses on. I laughed so hard. I told them thanks for making sure nobody got their eye shot out. They have been having a lot of fun and I get a kick out of watching them figure out how to shot the other person without getting shot.

Austin - The Little Fish

I tried to update this about a week ago, but it wouldn't let me post so here we go again.

Austin had his first swim meet on Jan 18. He kept asking me all day if it was time to go yet. I was so nervous for his that I forgot the camera, thank goodness Julie brought hers. He swam super fast and I was very proud of him. He swam the 50 m freestyle in 35.68 seconds and only has to take off 5 seconds to qualify for state at BYU. He also swam the 50 m backstroke. He swam that in 42.16 seconds. He told me his legs get more tired with the backstroke. He did super awesome and he loves swimming.

Kid Fun

Just an update on the kids.

Avery just started taking trumpet lessons again, his first lesson was on Tues. His other teacher left to go to college so we have been trying to find a new teacher. Travis told me to call Mr. Ferrin and see if he was teaching or knew of somebody. So Avery's new teacher is Mr. Ferrin. At his first lesson he found out why Travis likes Mr. Ferrin so much. Avery loved it. He is still playing indoor soccer and trying to get ready for high school tryouts in a few weeks. He has 3 merit badges that are 3/4 of the way done and then a eagle project and he will have his eagle. He has been working really hard. He likes to help the neighbors and the other day when it snowed he was gone for a few hours plowing out the neighbors. I am proud of him.

Chelsea will start today with a flute teacher. Her name is Sunni. Chelsea is still working hard in school. She wants to tryout for the dance team at the Jr. High this year and so she is working hard in her dance class. She really likes playing the piano and she will just sit down and play sometimes for fun. Reminds me of myself. When spring comes she will be playing soccer again. She loves Young Women's and I am grateful for the wonderful leaders that she has.

Austin has decided to try something new this winter. Last fall he didn't have enough time for swimming and for soccer so he picked it back up this winter. In a short time they moved him from the pre-competition team to the comp team. A week from tomorrow he will swim in his first meet. He is going to do the 50m backstoke and the 50m freestyle. I'll let ya know how he does. He loves playing the saxaphone and is still playing the piano. His soccer team played one session of indoor soccer and in a couple of weeks his coach wants to start training outside. They are going to a tournament in Las Vegas in March. Austin just started in 11 year old scouts and he is going to Tracy with his dad and brother this weekend. He needs camping nights for his merit badge. He is doing awesome.

Brayden thinks he may want to swim also, but first he has to have some more swimming lessons. He is the only one that I didn't every make sure he had lessons. I worried about it a lot with the older kids because of the boat, but I let it slip with Brayden. Oh well, he started this week with lessons. I hope that he loves it. He is also taking piano and doing really good. I think Brayden will be my singer. He loves to sing and is always going around the house singing. The other kids get really sick of it and I remind them that we all have things we are good at and we can't stop people from doing what they love. He loves 2nd grade and his teacher. He is most excited about the fact it is 2008. When he was four he always wanted to know how long until he was baptized. I told him when he was eight. He said that would take forever and I told him to wait until 2008. On New Year's Eve after he yelled out the door he came running to me and said "Mom it's 2008 I get baptized this year." In March he will be baptized and he can hardly stand it. I am glad that he is looking forward to it.

That's the fun stuff going on around here.

It's about time......

Life really is back to normal. Just as busy as ever. It wouldn't be normal if we weren't hopping around here. Good thing we are having lots of fun. I decided to give a recap of the last couple of things that have gone on around here and then we will start blogging better. I am trying to have a routine around here, but I have always hated routines.

First, Austin had a birthday on Dec 23rd. I can't believe that he is 11. Here he is getting ready to blow out his candles.

Then of course Christmas happened. The kids asked for a Wii and that's what they got. They spent a lot of the morning playing with that before we even opened presents under the tree. Avery asked for guitar hero and I think Mark likes it the most. He gets to hear all of the old rock music he used to listen to.

The kids also like to play the sports pack that came with it. Bowling, golfing, boxing and a couple of others. Here is Avery and Austin boxing.

Then after Christmas came the rest of the partying. You know it doesn't stop until Jeff and Wendy show up. I love the progressive dinner and everybody always has great ideas for their assignments. I sure love to hang out with my family.

Then Brayden lost a tooth. He has lost his two bottom ones, but I always get a kick out of the top ones. They sure are more noticeable. He was making me laugh the first few days because he found out he couldn't talk very well.
